The electrons have owners. Most GPU decks do not.
Vistra and Constellation are not ‘AI trades.’ They are the counterparties who can sign a multi-year load.
Summary
Vistra’s August 10 10-Q and Constellation’s August 6 10-Q are power-company documents. They are in this universe because every GPU-cloud and miner-converter story eventually needs a signature from someone who owns generation or a long firm book. Hyperscale PPAs, behind-the-meter nuclear, and ERCOT merchant exposure are the product. A campus slide that does not name the power counterparty is unfinished work.
Why it matters
Equity narratives in GPU cloud skip the offtake stack’s other side. If the load is real, Vistra, Constellation, or a utility/ISO process is on the page. If they are not, the campus is still a rendering.
Companies affected
Risks
- A generator PPA can be announced years before a hall is built.
- Merchant power names have commodity beta that this newsletter will not pretend is an AI multiple.
- Nuclear behind-the-meter structures are site-specific. They do not generalize.
